Blackjack strategy tables are a tool for players who want to follow the correct mathematical strategy without having to calculate, or even understand advanced mathematical theories. These strategy tables outline the recommended mathematical course of action by simply referencing your cards, and the dealers up card on a simple table. Simply, identify your cards on the left side of the table and run your finger horizontally across the table to the vertical column that matches the dealers up card. In the intersection of these two lines you will find the recommended course of action which is usually signified with the letter H for Hit, the letter S for stand, and the letter D for double.

 

Typically there are three different strategy tables, the soft total table, the hard total table, and the pair splitting table. The soft total table is the table to use if your hand is made up of an ace valuing one, and the hard total table is the table to use if your hand is made up of an ace valuing eleven. The pair splitting table is used to determine if splitting a pair of cards is a good mathematical decision.
